Prom Makeup -- Top 5 Beauty Tips for Prom
No-Fail Tips to Look Gorgeous on Your Big
Night
The weeks before prom are crazy, crazy, crazy &
fun. There's nothing better than planning your dress, shoes,
makeup & hair. To make things easier, I've compiled the top 5
beauty musts for prom. If you live by these, I guarantee you
won't look weird, boring or too much like your regular, everyday
self for this year's prom. Have fun!
- Tip #1: If in doubt, mimic a celebrity
If you're into Hillary Duff or Jessica Simpson or Jessica's
funkier sister, Ashlee, or whomever you love, have fun this
prom & mimic your favorite look of theirs. Trying out a
celebrity's look is a great idea for prom because changes
are a professional makeup artist perfected the look just so
you can copy it. Plus, many magazines name the products used
on the celebrity so you can even use the exact makeup your
fave celeb used.
You can perfect
Jessica's smokey eyes (just remember to keep your cheek
color natural & use a very light lipstick), go for a sweet &
sexy look like Hillary's (don't forget the lipgloss) or try
Ashlee's dark-rimmed eyes (these really show off dark hair).
Cut out a picture of your favorite celebrity & practice the
look before the big night. Once you're at prom, no one but
you has to know you're the OTHER Mary-Kate Olsen.
- Tip #2: Pick your eyes OR your mouth
The biggest mistake people make
when putting on makeup is that they highlight both the eye &
the mouth. You need to pick one or the other & downplay what
you rejected. How to pick? Simple. What do people compliment
you on? Do you have Angelina Jolie's lips or Kate Bosworth's
eyes? If you choose to focus on your lips, you'll want to go
bright. Red is hot for prom, as are dark pinks. Just stay
away from brown (leave it for your grandmother) & make sure
you keep your eye makeup soft & simple.. If you want to play
up your eyes, go all out with liner, shadow, mascara & even
false eyelashes (the ones that AREN'T obnoxious &
outlandish). Just make sure you stick with light lips capped
with a light gloss.
- Tip #3: Skip the foundation. Please.
No one under age 25 needs
foundation. Trust me, you will have plenty of years in your
future to spread on that pancake batter. But until you hit
35 or so, you really should skip it. If you have acne or
blemishes, stick to a concealer that perfectly matches your
face & apply a light powder over it. Powder is great for
calming down a shiny forehead.
- Tip #4: 3 things to remember when
taking pictures You'll have those
prom pictures for years, so don't forget these 3 things:
apply liner & lipstick WITH A MIRROR before you pose; powder
your oily areas (forehead, chin & nose) immediately before;
& stand a bit sideways with one foot in front of the other
-- you'll look 10 pounds thinner. Trust me. It's the red
carpet secret celebrities swear by.
- Tip #5: Remember, a happy, fun
attitude is your biggest beauty weapon.
Who doesn't look beautiful when they're happy
& smiling?
